Our YVT community includes choristers across six different ensembles who range in age from 4-18 years. We, like many of you, believe that musical education is critical to a child’s development. We are here to fill this gap. If your child loves to sing and explore, be creative and expressive, plus loves learning musical skills and wants to make lifelong friends…. Classes for Kids in Junior and Senior Kindergarten
Our choirs are sectioned by grades/ages and are called: PICCOLO, CANTABILE, DOLCE, & ENCORE We’d like to meet and hear them sing at a vocal assessment.
Vocal Assessments for our 2026/2027 season will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 1:00-5:00.

What To Expect at Your Vocal Assessment?
Vocal assessments are brief, relaxed and give the conductors the opportunity to determine the best ensemble for each young singer. Our goal is to ensure that all singers are placed in the ensemble that they will feel most comfortable in – that will provide them with the most fitting musical and social experience. Singers should come prepared to:
Sing a brief song of their choice (it could be something simple, like Row, row, row Your Boat, Happy Birthday or Twinkle Twinkle – or anything they feel comfortable with or would show their personality!)
Listen and sing-back simple melodies or rhythms
Explore their voice – singing both high and low to determine their range
Chat a little with the conductor about their musical experience, why they’d like to join YVT, tell about their interests outside of music
There is a $25 vocal assessment fee per singer to be paid by credit card at the time of booking. Placement results will be communicated to every applicant in early June.
