Garde ton Rêve
Keep this dream in your brow,
Keep a star fo all the heaviness;
In your mind, hold onto the fragrance
Of those inspiring sounds.
Still musical to your ears,
Hold onto the sound
Of water, streams, trees and wind;
Bathe your dream in their waves
Anointed with unmatched tones.
And in the deepest part of you,
At the most intimate spot,
Where walk, side, by side,
Fear and hope,
Hold onto this dream exalting
Your spirit
To infinity.
Singkap Siaga
Singkap – to open, to reveal, quick change
Siaga – ever ready
From Tracy: “I drew inspiration from the almost-extinct Malay tradition of shadow puppet theatre and its music…This art form reminded me of how light and shadow are equal in beauty, thus shifting my perspective of “shadow” and “darkness” having negative connotations. Throughout my research on this tradition, I have been drawn to a scene in the show where two Arrow Gods, one good and one evil descend from the sky and battle each other. Neither wins. Life goes on in a balance.
Hotaru Koi
Japanese Children’s Song, Arranged by Ro Ogura; English Translation by David Larson
Ho, little firefly
Come, there’s some water that’s bitter to taste
Come, here’s some water that’s sweet to your taste;
Up this mountain path.
Firefly’s daddy struck it rich, so he’s got lots of dough,
No wonder that his rear end sparkles in the dark.
Up this mountain path.
In the daytime hiding ‘Mongiat the dewy blades of grass,
But, when it’s night, his lantern burns bright.
Even though we’ve flown all the way from India,
Zoom! And those sparrows swarm to swallow us.
Gimikwendon Ina
Do you remember
What you are called?
Where you are from?
Do you remember?
Do you remember
Our fathers and mothers,
Our sister and brothers?
Sonnet 43 by William Shakespeare
When most I wink, then do mine eyes best see,
For all the day they view things unrespected;
But when I sleep, in dreams they look on thee,
And, darkly bright, are bright in dark directed.
Then thou, whose shadow shadows doth make bright,
How would thy shadow’s form form happy show
To the clear day with thy much clearer light,
When to unseeing eyes thy shade shines so?
How would, I say, mine eyes be blessed made
By looking on thee in the living day,
When in dead night thy fair imperfect shade
Through heavy sleep on sightless eyes doth stay!
All days are nights to see till I see thee,
And nights bright days when dreams do show thee me
Phänomen
Text by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832)
When Phoebus joins with the wall of rain,
Instantly a rainbow appears
In the mist the identical arch I see drawn
The arch is white, but it is heaven’s bow
Therefore should you, cheerful greybeard,
Be not saddened:
For although your hair is also white, you will still love.

Oh, how I love summer; it’s my favourite season!
When it’s really hot, I sing, I dance; it’s wonderful!
With my friends we have fun and laugh.
We find worms and fish in the river!
