Sunday May 7, 2017 at 3:30 PM
St. Anne's Anglican Church, 270 Gladstone Ave., Toronto
Identities: Musical Stories of Canada, led by St. Anne's Music Director, John-Luke Addison, is a companion event to Paddling Together: An Exhibition of Contemporary Indigenous Art. St. Anne's is taking a different approach to the celebration of Canada's 150th by presenting a musical event based on human and spiritual experiences in music over the past millennium, rather than themes of imperialism and patriotism. The concert will feature folk music from Aboriginal and French-Canadian traditions, music by Canadian women composers, Afro-American and Celtic music, among many others. Musical acts include: St. Anne's Church Choir and Festival Orchestra, Singing Out, Naulaq LeDrew (Inuk throat singer), and Young Voices Toronto Children's Choir.
